Vintage English Sterling Silver Letter Opener

Vintage English Sterling Silver Letter Opener

A most elegant way to open the day's mail, this Vintage English Sterling Silver Letter Opener was spied in the north of England still nestled within its original presentation box. With a pleasing weight and striking silhouette, it promises to make a glamorous addition to any surface, whether antique desk, family command center or that tiny table alongside your favorite reading chair.

Crafted by the fine silvermakers at Birmingham's Deakin & Francis, it bears the lion passant as well as markings for the maker and production year of 1969. Founded by Benjamin Woolfield in 1786, the firm later became a partnership in the mid 19th century under the leadership of its first generation of Deakins - Charles Washington Shirley Deakin. Standing today in the same building as it began 239 years ago, Deakin & Francis is now England's oldest family-run jewellers, operating under the 7th generation of Deakin leadership.

A lovely addition to your home or office, this handsome opener in its crimson velveteen-lined case, would also make a wonderful gift. With a gleaming surface, ample enough for an engraved bespoke monogram, name or personal inscription it is certain to make an impressive presentation wherever it is found.

Strictly one-of-a-kind and subject to prior sale. In very good vintage condition. Letter Opener measures 7.5"L x 1"W. Presentation case measures 8.75"L x 2.5"D x 1"H.
